چکیده
The paper outlines some recent developments of the boundary element method (BEM) that makes it more user friendly and suitable for a realistic simulation in geomechanics, especially underground excavations tunnelling. innovations refer to introduction isogeometric concepts, elasto-plastic analysis ground support. concepts description excavation boundaries results less effort, since complex geometries can be modelled with few parameters degrees freedom. No mesh generation is necessary. Heterogeneous inelastic conditions are considered via general inclusions rock bolts linear inclusions. A comparison test examples other numerical methods analytical solutions confirms efficiency accuracy proposed implementation. practical example geometry presented.

Isogeometric Boundary Element Method with Hierarchical Matrices
In this work we address the complexity problem of the isogeometric Boundary Element Method by proposing a collocation scheme for practical problems in linear elasticity and the application of hierarchical matrices. For mixed boundary value problems, a block system of matrices – similar to Galerkin formulations – is constructed allowing an effective application of that matrix format. We introduc...
متن کاملA boundary element/finite difference analysis of subsidence phenomenon due to underground structures
Analysis of the stresses, displacements, and horizontal strains of the ground subsidence due to underground excavation in rocks can be accomplished by means of a hybridized higher order indirect boundary element/finite difference (BE/FD) formulation. A semi-infinite displacement discontinuity field is discretized (numerically) using the cubic displacement discontinuity elements (i.e. each highe...
متن کاملIMPOSITION OF ESSENTIAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS IN ISOGEOMETRIC ANALYSIS USING THE LAGRANGE MULTIPLIER METHOD
NURBS-based isogeometric analysis (IGA) has currently been applied as a new numerical method in a considerable range of engineering problems. Due to non-interpolatory characteristic of NURBS basis functions, the properties of Kronecker Delta are not satisfied in IGA, and as a consequence, the imposition of essential boundary condition needs special treatment. The main contribution of this study...
متن کاملApplication of Boundary Element Method to 3 D Submerged Structures With Open Ends (RESEARCH NOTE)
This paper presents a three dimensional application of direct Boundary-Element Method (BEM) for computing interaction of sinusoidal waves with a large submerged open bottom structure near the floor with finite depth. The wave diffraction problem is formulated within the framework of linearized potential theory and solved numerically with direct BEM. A computer program based on BEM is developed ...
متن کاملAutomatic Adaptive Meshing for Efficient Electrostatic Boundary Element Simulations
The bounda y element method (BEM) is well suited for the electrostatic analysis of large, geometrically complex structures. When highly accurate solutions are required, the discretization (meshing) of the geometry becomes increasingly important. A scheme is required to construct optimal meshes, in the sense that maximum accuracy of the solution can be achieved with minimal computational eflort....
